I normally have to travel to Chicago to get my hair done properly. I took a chance on coming to Gerald’s based off of the reviews, and I’m so glad I did. She’s does an amazing job on my hair and you absolutely cannot beat the price. Other Milwaukee stylists charge more and expect you to come in with your hair already washed for a silk press, this is not the case at Gerald’s. I get a shampoo, condition, deep conditioner, blow out, flat iron and ends trimmed for a more than affordable price.
Gerda has been my stylist for over 5 years now!! I absolutely love the way my hair looks and feels when I get out of her chair. I have sent numerous of people her way and they all have loved the work she does!
Kathy, is also amazing. She is the best shampoo/roller I know! She will scratch your scalp with those nails and take you to another world mentally.
I love that I can relax and enjoy the process!
They never usually overbook, so the wait is never really any longer than about 15 minutes. I love that they are friendly, warm, and they try so hard to style your hair the way you desire. Besides Gerda, they don't speak fluent English so sometimes you have to really explain your self and different ways and using gestures to get what you want. Its cool for me though, because I'm a simple girl who just loves how Gerda straightens my hair so its not often that I ask for anything different or outlandish. The body, bounce, and silk feel that my hair has for daaaaays after is worth every cent I spend with her.
I have even had my sew-ins washed, rolled, and blown out there. Gerda hardly knew where the 22inches came from, but she understood that I wanted curls on the girls and body.
I feel absolutely fabulous every single time I walk out those doors!
Pros:
GREAT Dominican stylist! They really know how to handle black people's hair. Hair will be soft silky and sleek without a relaxer. I'm 100% natural and my hair is so light and bouncy and luscious when I leave.
Cons:
They barely speak English and only answer the phone on certain days to make an appointment. And even when you have an appointment they still do 1st come 1st served. SO WHAT'S THE POINT OF MAKING AN APPOINTMENT??!!! I went there on Valentines Day and waited 5 hrs with an appointment before I was serviced! This was the longest I had ever waited and I understand that it was a "holiday" but still that was ridiculous!
Bottom line is I do continue to go back because of the quality work they do for reasonable prices but be prepared to wait.

I came to Gerald’s Studio because the raving reviews my coworkers gave. They told me how good they were at straightening natural hair. I was excited to try them out, I set an appointment for a Saturday at 10:30am. I told the lady who answered the phone that I wanted a blowout and my ends clipped. I arrived at 10:15am the shop was super PACKED!! Butt I didn’t think anything of it, I just knew I didn’t have to wait around because I had an appointment... WRONG!!! The shampoo lady didn’t touch my hair till about 12pm... Long story short, I didn’t leave the shop till 2:30pm. I was kinda satisfied with the results, I mean for the price it was worth it... HOWEVER, now my natural textured hair has severe heat damage I mean the ends of my hair is completely straight!!! I am so upset. This was the first time I straightened my hair in a year and a half since I did the big chop and now it’s RUINED!!!
I've been going here for 10 years and wouldnt consider ever leaving. The owner/stylist is VERY talented. She can cut, color and style and never compromises what's best for your hair. Gerald's Studio is the best!!!
